Hammond Meredith is known for diving in, head first.
Born in Florida, yet raised all over the United States, Asia and Europe, Hammond Meredith is the consummate journeyman.
He is a cattle rancher, having learned through his grandfather, uncle and neighbors. He is a chef, having apprenticed under some of the best across the globe. He is an athlete, having participated in paddle boarding, snowboarding, ice hockey, fishing, hunting and racing, but most of all, he is an explorer. Hammond is an adventurer, never satisfied to be complacent with the values he holds close. He gives credit for his positive outlook on life to his best friend Lew, a WW2 vet who is his constant source of strength, by example of his courage and his grandparents who instilled traditional values in his upbringing. Hammond is also the originator of the Sabot Foundation, a 501(c) (3) trust aimed at helping veterans find resources for long-term goals and a way for them to connect with each other. By combining action sports into music and culture, the foundation gained traction when Hammond was given the opportunity to race professionally. Hammond’s involvement in cars stretches from race vehicles to his involvement as a member of Pegasus – an exclusive lowrider car club based in Los Angeles, CA. Distinct from a regular lowered vehicle, these customized vehicles are individually painted with intricate, colorful designs, ridden on 13-inch wire-spoke wheels with white-wall tires, and fitted with hydraulic systems that allow the vehicle to be raised or lowered at the owner’s command. Given these specific characteristics, while a lowrider is not always a lowered car, a lowered car is always a lowrider. The term is used to describe a class of vehicle, not simply the height from ground to chassis. Hammond received a medical discharge from the US Navy after developing physical issues which prevented his completion of service.
Hammond felt he gained much more from the school of life than he did from his formal education. As a chef, he explored foods from around the world, paying special interest in equatorial spices and cooking styles while living in Japan for five years.
Wherever racing takes him is where his home is, traveling in his Earth Roamer with his two European pole cats, so he can travel to races, is the pinnacle of his dedication to his sport – the path he chooses bears no specific destination, only discovery.
